Digitalization Of The Island Of Krk – New Mobile Applications
Krk Tourist Board presents free mobile applications KRKhike and KRKbike.
The KRKhike application is a new mobile application for Android and IOS operating systems, and allows you to search for walking, MTB, hiking trails and GPS navigation routes, as well as choosing a walkway to your own wishes, weight, location. The application can be downloaded on www.krk.hr , as well as on the web page of the Tourist Board of Krk Island.
Apart from the development of outdoor, the Tourist Board of Krk Island wants to introduce visitors to a rich cultural and historical heritage of the island of Krk. In order to do so the Tourist Board has printed the tourist map of cultural sights, made a digital map and its presentation in an interactive and multimedia way, and this year the board will present the contents of the digital map adapted for mobile phones.
The historic heritage of the island of Krk with this project covers the antique period, historical towns and castles, as well as the centers of Glagolitic heritage.
The whole cultural heritage project of the island of Krk began in 2016, and it was continued in 2017 from the very beginning in cooperation with the Industrial Heritage Center, University of Rijeka. The project combines the cultural heritage of the island of Krk and enables it to be presented with modern technologies – multimedia and interactive. The digital map includes 50 sites and the catalogs of cultural heritage that are presented on the website of the Tourist Board of the island of Krk and can now be downloaded by cell phone and visit routes according to your wishes. It is possible to visit churches, places, monasteries, fortifications, guided and independent tours with confirmation of the location.

Tourist board of the island of Krk has also prepared a 360-degree virtual walk around the island of Krk as a new, innovative, interactive and visual visualization of destinations and airspace using the latest VR VR technology.
